“Whatever
you’re not
changing, you’re choosing.”
Laurie Buchanan
if you are unhappy with the following issues and the overall direction of Kirkland, vote to change the council!
-
Increase in crime.
-
Deferred maintenance (crumbling sidewalks, potholes, trash, weeds, etc.).
-
Lack of transparency and public input (i.e. Houghton Transfer Station, Houghton Park 'n Ride, 20 story zoning on 85th).
-
La Quinta project. No National Background Check required for residents.
-
Lack of affordable housing.
-
Wasteful spending:
1) $14,000,000 for old PCC site in Houghton.
2) $20 city car tab fee implemented by Council without vote of the people.
3) $23,000,000 spent on ped/bike bridge while well traveled roads are in disrepair?
4) $18,000,000 proposed for bike lanes and removal of parking on Lake Washington Blvd.
-
City of Kirkland population has only increased by 10% in the last ten years and the city budget has almost doubled during that period.
-
Lots of planning for future residents while seniors who make up 30% of the population and have been in Kirkland for decades fear being priced out of their homes.
-
Council and resident concerns are not aligned.
